Keep Your Chin Up

We finished our two days of shooting a little early after Anthony Napolitan ended a tailwhip air with his chin on the flat bottom of the big bowl at the Vancouver, Washington skatepark. He hung up from about six feet out, causing his arm to buckle, and he went straight over the bars. Fortunately he didn’t get knocked out, but chins don’t like impact and blood was everywhere. The end result was a small fracture to his jaw, and six stitches (though it appears the doctor could use a bit of a refresher course… there were some definite gaps which Kagy nicely fixed with Steri-strips) in the chin. Anthony had already beaten himself up pretty good at Dew Tour the previous weekend, so I was hoping this trip was going to be a bit of a break. Not so much.

We did wind up getting some good stuff prior to Anthony’s crash. The crazy storm clouds on the first day of shooting made for some good shots, and considering the crowded skateparks, rain and hospital visit, we did pretty well overall.

There should be some video as well as some more shots on ampenergy.com in the near future. Here’s a bit of a preview below (click the thumnails).

Edit: When he got home to PA Anthony saw a specialist and the result was having his jaw wired shut for three weeks. Not so much fun, but glad he got it taken care of.
