Buy a Snowboard, Get Free Stickers

diecuts

Since some nice folks at Burton were control-freakish enough to whine about some editorial content earlier this week, it created a whole shitstorm of fun for us, as well as extra web traffic on this and multiple other sites who chose to talk about it. We’re told no one cares, but the thousands of unique visits to those posts don’t lie. For the most part, the only negative feedback came anonymously from inside Burton (we traced the IP address obviously, then did some digging to find out exactly who it was). Of course I’m aware that negative publicity can still be good publicity, but since Burton cool-aid drinkers get so damn whiny over nothing, We’re still having fun with it. We’re a media company, and when you fuck with the media, the media fucks you back. But they’re not used to that because they still have control of the dwindling print magazines, so it took them by suprise. And Blah, blah, blah.

Anyway, in honor of all this, and sort of a thanks, I offered to orchestrate a new YoBeat promotion for them, which, since I enjoy having fun and keeping media honest, will also pay for. So, the deal is, buy a snowboard from now through the end of November, and send us a copy of your receipt and we’ll send you free YoBeat stickers. They might be die-cuts, they might be screen prints, they might be an assortment of both. What’s the catch? It can’t be a Burton Snowboard. Anything else will fly, even their subsidiaries like Forum who we quite enjoy. Just no Burtons. You’ll also be entered to win some other great prizes including some of the gear used in Party Time Nate’s product reviews, and other YoBeat Swag like t-shirts. The offer is limited to the first 500 US residents (sorry foreign friends but if we like you enough we might send you stickers anyway).

Obviously it’s only worth your while if you were going to buy a new board anyway, but since many of you will, why not hook you up. Of course, if you want to spend a few hundred bucks on a board to get free stickers, that’s cool too, but you can buy those a lot cheaper in YoBeat’s store.

Full details are on YoBeat.com. So check there soon for more info, but that’s the gist of it. You’ll be able to email or snail mail, and please, support your local shop.
