From the Archives: Morgan Wade, Toronto, 2006

Morgan Wade likes to play a little trivia game where he asks “Who was the first person to..?” When we were at Woodward West recently, one of his questions was the Flair Whip. Still, many years later, only a few guys are actually landing them, or even trying them, but Dave Mirra seems to be the first person to have landed one. There’s footage of Mat Hoffman somewhere trying one and landing on a mattress years back. Jamie Bestwick dialed it in downside. Mirra gets the credit for the “normal” version though. Morgan, being the loose cannon that he often is, was also one of the first people doing them, and he brought them to the park in a strange way. This photo is from 2006. He had just learned them, and he’s doing it as a transfer from the quarterpipe on the left to the wedge on the right. This photo was the opening spread to the Toronto Metro Jam story in Ride UK in ’06. That’s two posts in a row with archive photos of Morgan. He’s always good for something wild, camera around or not.
