Burnside Skatepark is only a few blocks from my studio. At this point it’s one of the most well known skate spots in the world. Dean Dickinson and ESPN BMX recently did a cool short film and story about the park’s history with BMX riders, who aren’t necessarily welcome at the DIY skater-built spot. You can check that feature out here.

The photo above is of Snotty blasting a vert wall that’s been in the process of being built for the past year or so. It’s only about three feet wide, and then becomes an unfinished pile of rubble, so riding it is sketchy. An air of this height is ridiculous. You are asking for Hepatitis or any number of filth born illnesses. Let’s just say you don’t really want to fall at Burnside, even on the smooth surfaces. The place is dirty. He’s taking off right in that mossy area and landing in about the same spot. You can see some more photos of Snotty killing Burnside in this previous post.

Hit up Burnside Skatepark this morning to shoot some photos of Ben Hucke for a magazine interview. Snotty rolled up after a bit (pictured above with a no-hander over the hip) and did every line in the place. Shortly thereafter Shawn McIntosh came out and toothpicked a moss covered vert wall that’s still in construction outside of the park. Not a bad spot to have a few blocks from the office. A little coffee and BMX photography to start the day. Our favorite shot I’m holding onto for the time being, but here are a few treats after the jump.

Okay, so the second day’s post from hanging out with the Levi’s team in Portland actually doesn’t include any photos of the Levi’s team (except the shot above of Anthony and Ronnie), they’re all of Ben Hucke, but he admits to owning at least one pair of Levi’s. We met up with the filming crew at Burnside in the morning. Ben fired out some huge, high speed Ruben-style wallrides on the big wall, and then found a wild wallride to flat on the outskirts of the park, off a new transition they’re building. Anthony and Ronnie filmed some lines with Will Stroud and Fuel TV, then we moved on to a wild spot Ben had found down the road, which you’ll see after the jump.

Eight inches of snow. I’m told this doesn’t happen very often here in Portland. Being from the East Coast, to me eight inches is a mild snowstorm, but in a city without much of a snow removal plan, it makes for a mess. While driving around the city checking things out, we stopped by Burnside Skatepark, one of the few homeless shelters to have ever appeared in a video game, and shot a few photos of the park covered in snow. It’s under the bridge, but all the blowing snow has covered most of the park. Unfortunately for some unlucky soul, their blanket is now frozen inside a puddle in the bowl. Hopefully they aren’t still in it. More photos after the jump.
